The Immediate Area

Our home is in easy walking distance of Villamartin central plaza, there you will find a great selection of restaurants and bars where you can eat, drink and relax both outdoors or in, until late. There's something for everyone. The small community of bahia golf share 2 pools, available to residents, where you can sunbathe and cool off. It is an ideal base for a golfing holiday or, if you are wanting to wind down and enjoy some lovely sunshine, its a great place to be as the climate is excellent. We would recommend that you hire a car although there is a good local bus service from Villamartin to the beach.

Beaches

cala capitan beach

There are several soft sandy beaches which have been awarded Blue Flag status all along the coast, many within 10 minutes drive. The beaches are groomed daily and there are bars/restaurants nearby. In the summer months sunbeds and canopies are available for hire.

There's everything from the huge Carrefour in the commercial centre in Torrevieja to small local independants. The nearest sizable one. Super Value, is only 2 to 3 minutes away by car. If you like markets, you will find one within easy reach nearly every day. The one held in Torrevieja is huge.

The Area at large

Benidorm is about 75 minutes away if you use the motorway, there you will find major theme parks - Terra Mitica and Terra Natura. Inland there are old spanish villages to visit and the area has its own vinyards producing mainly red wines which you can sample locally. Alicante is the main city of the area, with a large promenade, lovely beaches and shops, museums and a castle - well worth a visit. From Alicante you can take the scenic coastal railway heading north.

You can take a trip up or down the coast. To the south there is La Manga club with its luxury homes and sporting facilities and close by are the warm, shallow waters of the Mar Menor  flanked by a long ribbon of high rise hotels and apartments.

Take a mud bath at San Pedro de Pinatar or hire bikes, go sailing or Karting.  Scuba Diving is available and of course you can play golf - there are numerous courses and more being built all the time.

Alicante is well worth a day out  to visit its old quarter and castle, and to stroll along the harbour and beach.

Elche is an ancient city famous throughout spain as the major grower of palm trees. It also has a thriving shoe industry.
